OpenAI · GPT-6

OpenAI released GPT-6 Luna on September 22, 2026.

GPT-6 Luna is the small, low-cost OpenAI reasoning model released on September 22, 2026 alongside GPT-6 Sol. It accepts text and image input and generates text through the Responses and Chat Completions APIs, and reached Codex and ChatGPT Work the same day. Standard pricing for prompts up to 272K input tokens is $0.10 per million input tokens, $0.01 cached input and $0.50 output, a twentieth of GPT-6 Sol's price. On September 25 OpenAI fixed an image encoding bug that had degraded image understanding in Luna and Sol, and recommended rerunning image-based evaluations.
