OpenAI · GPT-5

OpenAI released GPT-5.4 on March 5, 2026.

GPT-5.4 is the OpenAI frontier model for professional work released on March 5, 2026 to the Chat Completions and Responses APIs, together with GPT-5.4 Pro in the Responses API for harder problems that benefit from more compute. GPT-5.4 Thinking arrived in ChatGPT the same day. It brought a 1M token context window, native compaction for longer agent workflows, and built-in computer use through the Responses API computer tool. GPT-5.4 mini and GPT-5.4 nano followed on March 17: mini brings GPT-5.4-class capabilities to a faster model for high-volume work, and nano targets simple high-volume tasks.
