Anthropic · Opus
Anthropic released Claude Opus 4.6 on February 5, 2026.
Claude Opus 4.6 is the Anthropic model launched on February 5, 2026 for coding, financial analysis, research, documents, spreadsheets and presentations, and long-running agentic work in tools like Claude Code and Cowork. It was the first Opus-class model with a 1M token context window (in beta on the Claude Developer Platform) and supports up to 128k output tokens. Standard pricing stayed at $5 / $25 per million input / output tokens, with premium pricing for prompts over 200k tokens. It launched with adaptive thinking, four effort levels (low, medium, high and max), context compaction in beta and US-only inference. Fast mode followed in research preview a few days later.
claude-opus-4-6Anthropic said Opus 4.6 plans more carefully, sustains agentic tasks for longer, works more reliably in larger codebases and catches more of its own mistakes in code review and debugging.
On GDPval-AA it scored about 190 Elo points above Claude Opus 4.5, and on the 8-needle 1M variant of MRCR v2 it scored 76%. Adaptive thinking replaced manual thinking budgets as the recommended mode, and prefilling assistant messages is not supported.
